Itinerary

Arrival in Yerevan. Pick up from Yerevan International Airport. Drop to the hotel.

Guide and a driver will meet you in the lobby of the hotel. The tour begins with a visit to Mother Armenia, a statue which was constructed to replace a monumental statue of Joseph Stalin. Thereafter, you will head to the Cascade, a giant stairway in the capital city which links downtown Kentron area of Yerevan with the Monument neighbourhood. The stairs afford walkers unobstructed views of central Yerevan and Mount Ararat. From the Cascade, you will be heading to the Opera House. A visit to the Republic Square awaits you next. The Square is famous for the dancing water fountains located at the north-eastern end along the National Gallery. The buildings around the Square are made of rose and white Armenian tufa stones and provide a great insight into the architectural heritage of Armenia. If you are looking for some shopping during your holiday to Armenia, Vernissage (open only on week-ends) is the place to be. Hundreds of vendors selling a variety of crafts and souvenirs will leave you spoilt for choice. Woodcarving items, antiques, and wool carpets can also be bought from here. Here you will find everything from vintage meat grinder parts to puppy dogs for sale. It is bargain hunters heaven. The Vernissage is the right place to get little taste of Armenia and a special spot to witness the fusion between national traditions and modern taste. All in all, an enjoyable and exhilarating experience awaits you in Armenia – a highly exuberant and endearing country. Overnight Yerevan

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will go to the Pagan Temple of Garni. The Pagan Temple of Garni is the only non-Christian temple currently standing in Armenia The architectural complex of Garni was Armenia's foremost center of Hellenistic culture and the summer residence of Armenian kings. Drive to the unique caved temple St. Geghard (12th -13th cc.), the name of which means “holy spear” in the honor of the long-preserved spear, the same spear that pierced the body of crucified Christ. Geghard Monastery is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list (2000). Drive back to Yerevan. Overnight Yerevan.

Breakfast at the hotel. Ancient relict Lake Sevan – “The Jewel of Armenia” or the “Geghama Sea” is one of the largest high-mountainous fresh water lakes in the world and the main attraction not only Gekarkunik, but whole Armenia. This nature's wonder is located in the very middle of Armenian highland in a huge mountain bowl framed with picturesque peaks at the height of 1,900 m. The lake's surface area is 940 sq km, the maximum depth - 95 m; maximum length – about 70 km, width - 30-50 km. Sevan is fed by 28 rivers but only one flows out – the Razdan. The biggest river flowing in the lake is the Mayerik. On the northwest part of the lake, on the narrow rocky peninsula there stands the one of the most prominent landmarks of medieval Armenian architecture – Sevanavank monastery. In antiquity the peninsula was stand-alone island. It was separated from the shore by 3 km of transparent water full of fish which was caught by the monastery. The monks came there in the end of the 8th century, erected a small chapel and few cells. The island position was so convenient that the growing monastic brotherhood started to build a monastery there. First they cut down a ledge in the rock and laid big stone blocks on it.Translated from Armenian the word “Tsakhkadzor” means the Gorge of Flowers. Indeed, the gorge, the mountains, snow tops, rapid rivers, picturesque valleys are covered with a flower carpet.Today's Tsakhkadzor is a cozy city and modern mountain-ski resort. It is located in the picturesque Tsakhkunyats canyon amidst virgin woods and Alpine meadows, on Mount Tegenis gentle slope (at the height of 1,845 m above the sea level). It received the city status in 1984 and today Tsakhkadzor attracts thousands of holiday makers who come there to relax, improve their health and admire beauties of the nature. The climate of Tsakhkadzor is special. Want to see the entire Armenia? Visit the ropeway of Tskhkadzor. From the height of 1,000 – 3,000 m you will see entire Armenia lying on the palm of your hand: the bright blue lake Sevan, the Big and Little Ararat. Overnight Tsaghkadzor.
